Packaging Engineer  & Sales  Support

Responsibility:  Work with sales account reps to design and sell corrugated litho boxes, roto pre-print,  P.O.P. displays and boxes.
 
Summary:   Twelve years project management experience designing primary packaging, POP and POS packaging, protective packaging, and transport packaging.    Work closely with sales/account managers providing packaging prototypes that meet customer expectations.    Select materials based on analytical analysis, and conduct testing that verifies package performance.    Reduce customer’s costs by improving existing packaging designs, or material savings based on package performance testing.   Extensive knowledge of rotogravure, flexography, and lithographic package printing.   Demonstrated process improvements that have contributed directly to the company profits and success.  Hazardous Material package design knowledge and experience. Working knowledge of  Score!, ArtiosCad, CAPE, and Microsoft Office software.
 Education:    BS with a  major in packaging  MSU 1994
Special Skills:
  • Thorough knowledge of all corrugated board design, testing, and production processes including:
    • Flexographic and rotogravure printing
    • P.O.P Displays
    • All board combining and converting (corrugators, flexo folder gluers, Bobst die cutters, rotary die cutters, and specialty gluers)
    • All paper and corrugated board testing
    • Package performance testing including compression, drop, vibration, ISTA testing.
  •  Knowledge of other packaging materials (paper, plastic, metal, and glass).

 Processes  Packaging equipment including:   ·         Form, Fill and Seal (FFS) ·         Case erectors and fillers   ·         Packaging lines

Compensation Range: $70 to $80K
Relocation:  Yes  - within  the southwest - TX
Will  travel  about  25% of  the  time as needed, recently married individual.
Recruiter Comments:   Probably  best  utilized as a Packaging Engineer in  the  capacity of  technical sales support or development of  new products.  Or  could  do nicely in a consumer setting.  Not  formally  trained as a salesman - so  some extensive amount of sales training time is probably needed.
